London n Hollywood

I See London, I see France, I see Happy Chuppah’s under pants.  Is our silly theme of the day at you guessed it London Hotel.  If you live or just visiting LA, you have got to check out the view of the city from their Rooftop pool and ceremony area.

The Chuppah was breathtaking over looking the cities finest mountains and lights on the 14th FL of this hotel.

This Happy Chuppah was covered in white voile chiffon fabric and beautiful flowers that includes roses, hydrangea and my favorite succulents.  Not to mention there’s crystals that are cascading down on each side.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone and Congratulations to all the newly engaged!  This is the best year to plan and gather information for your big day.  We have already got a head start with some weddings in January.  I particually want to mention this one because it’s very special to my husband and I.  4 years ago on January 5th 2008, he and I had our first date at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly hills.  And this year we had the pleasure to go back because Tana and Charles Axelrod tied the knot at this breathtaking location.  Just look at this beaitufl romantic garden where the ceremony took place right in front of a gorgeous fountain.  This space was set perfect for a small wedding of 60. Congratulations and thank you for taking us back to good memories.

This is a dark walnut Chuppah 6×6 dressed in Ivory Chiffon Fabric with crystals hanging down on each side.

Hey neighbor

My mom was very old school because she’s from Estern Europe and she always told my sister and I that the best way to advertise your business is door to door.  She thought it would be a great idea for me to walk around my 250 apartment complex which was 3 floors and NO elevator and leave a flyer on everyone’s door.  I laughed at her and didn’t take her advice. But always wondered, but then again what are the chances that someone in your complex is getting married and NEEDS a Canopy???  Little did I know, I received a phone call inquiring about pricing and available dates.  The bride was interested in meeting but wanted to consult with her Fiance of course. I thought just to be safe let me take down your mailing information and I will email a preliminary contract for your Fiance to take a look.  And here it came, the address…. as she started to spell the street, I almost dropped to the floor and immediatly thought of my mother. No wonder they say Mom knows best.  But to this day I never walked around and is sticking to the 2012 way of online advertising.  Small world that we did a Chuppah for my next door neighbor in my complex.

This was a gorgeous wedding set at the Hyatt,  Newport Beach. It was originally going to be outside but because this wedding was in November, it was too cold and it was moved inside but still had a gorgeous flare with the aisle set in rose petals and the Chuppah was beautifully dressed with Ivory Silk-essence fabric and beautiful light pink roses and white hydrangea that www.seedfloral.com designed.

In the pool

This wedding was on the hottest day of the month possible and it was in Riverside so it was extra hot.  It took place at the brides fathers home in the back yard over the pool.  It was breathtaking and of course they invited because we clicked and had become friends.

The ceremony was so romantic, Christina wore a gorgeous gown that was off white in color and flowed as she made her way not down the aisle but around the pool with her father by her side and everyone had the perfect view.

Her fiancé Ward was patiently awaiting under the Bamboo Chuppah which was draped with Ivory Silk essence fabric and had bamboo leaves with flowers.

After the ceremony Christina and Ward and family took some pictures while we sipped on cocktails during the hour.

When the reception started it was a PARTY.  Not your typical wedding that’s for sure.  It was so much fun, the drinks were flowing and so were we.  The bride and groom and the rest of the guests got into the pool right after the parents made toast.  All I knew as I was watching everyone in the pool, I got thrown right in by the groom and joined the party.  It was one of the best weddings we’ve ever done and been to all at the same time.

Chinese Origami

This beautiful wedding was at the Brand Park Japanese Garden & Tea House. The colors were perfect, the venue was perfect and I’m loving the soft, pale pink bridesmaid dresses and those bouquets…to die for! Every detail is pure romance from the cones filled with pink petals to throw at the newlyweds to the gorgeous linens and centerpieces. Seedfloral Couture really outdid herself again.

The Chuppah was settled on a little slope and it was a dark walnut frame with the ivory drape to match Hillary’s dress.  And she made Chinese Origami that we hung on the back of the pole, which fit perfectly with the venue.

Wet Chuppah

This was not a gorgeous day but had a beautiful setting at a ranch in Orange.  We felt like we weren’t in California anymore.  The ceremony location was set on an old stable that was surrounded by a white fence and the Chuppah was settled under a huge gorgeous tree.  The only problem this day had was that the weather report said rain a few days ago.  As a professional I like to follow up with my couples and confirm the details of the day incase there are any changes and I asked for a plan B in case it rains.  The groom however didn’t see rain in the weather report and continued with the same plan.

A few hours after we set up and started driving to our 2nd location of the day in Malibu, it started to pour.  I called my groom to make sure everything was okay and to let him know that he can throw the fabric in the dryer should it comes to that but he again declined and hoped the rain would stop.  To make the matters from worst to best, I then found out that the happy bride and groom exchanged their vows under the rain and the wet Chuppah and didn’t try to cover it up.  That is the most romantic story; we have been a part of. Congratulations!

Mandap at the Ranch

The setting of this gorgeous wedding was in Los Olivos. Where do you ask? That’s exactly what I said.  Jared and I left at 7:30am to make sure we get there by 11am. We drove on 101 through gorgeous Santa Barbara, passing cows and onto a very narrow, winding, long road to the destination spot over looking gorgeous mountains. The Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse was in an amazing area but a scary drive.

Everytime someone past us, we were scared. Some parts of the road were on a cliff and we thought we just may fall over.  When we got to the location it was awesome and simple to pull up to the ceremony site to unload and start building the Chuppah and then we got guests. Nope not people… flies. Not just one or two but there were about 10 flying around us and they would fly into my eye, nose, you name it. It wasn’t easy to work with let’s just put it that way. But at the end of the day, it was the most gorgeous Mandap with elaborate flowers.

Disney Concert Hall, Downtown LA

To my surprise someone was getting married on September 11th. At first I thought why you would want to share this day with such a tragic memory that will never be forgotten. But after a few thoughts, it actually turned out to be such a nice wedding that it’s nice to think of something happy and yet never forget the tragedy that happened 9 years ago. The Chuppah was just a simple basic red oak without any fabric and the florist decorated it with gorgeous flowers. The set up was the botanical garden at Chuppah up a pretty steep ramp. I then got into the elevator with the cart not realizing that the elevator is not that deep and the poles didn’t fit. I had to take the wood off the cart and bring in to the elevator but I made an error and my cart got stuck in the closing doors. I tried to hit the open doors button but of course I pressed the CALL emergency button by accident. The elevator started ringing so loud and the doors wouldn’t open and there I was trying to get this wood off the cart and into the elevator. Then I hear the emergency team come on the line asking me if I needed help. UGH, I wanted to cry but lucky for me, the doors opened and I was able to get the cart and the poles into the elevator.  10 minutes later my husband arrived to help me set up. We came back about 7:45pm to breakdown and of course the venue was locked since it’s a public museum during the day. OMG, we thought this day was never going to end. After several phone calls and running around looking for security, we got in.

Light bulb came handy

Smog shop is a very popular venue we go to a lot. Recently we had a beautiful interfaith wedding using another birch Chuppah with a white canopy top.  The bride and groom wanted to incorporate some of his Jewish traditions into this wedding such as having a Chuppah and breaking of the glass.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the groom (and in some modern ceremonies, the bride as well) smashes a glass with his foot. (In Israeli weddings, the glass is broken after the ketubah reading) The meaning of this act is disputed. One interpretation is that the marriage will last as long as the glass is broken– forever. Another interpretation is that people need to remember those who are suffering even in their greatest moments of joy, and to remember the destruction of the second temple. After the breaking of the glass, the guests yell, “Mazel Tov!” which means good luck.

Anything fragile can be used to break. There’s actually glass sold for the purpose of breaking. It looks like a bulb without the stem or in some cases like this couple decided to use a wine glass. Well after 3 tries the glass still wouldn’t break. Do some Legg exercises before the wedding right lol noooo people can actually use a light bulb. They had to switch it out during the ceremony. I like suggesting to purchase the glass; that way you keep the shatters after and create a monumental piece out of it.

Birch Canopy at a Mansion in Beverly Hills

Sunday morning was the setting for a gorgeous Birch Chuppah with Ivory Chiffon Drapes and lavender flowers with pink and greenery.  First a Chuppah using redwood was set up for a wedding in a temple in OC and then drove straight to Beverly Hills to set up the  Birch Chuppah in front of the bride and grooms house.  It was very hot and sunny on this Sunday morning and we were outside putting the Chuppah together.  The grass wasn’t very even, but we managed after 3 1/2 sweaty hours in the sun the Chuppah turned out beautiful. It was decorated with amnesia, faith roses and greenery that Stephanie created this beautiful arrangement by www.seedfloral.com with hanging crystals in the front. The bride and groom were so excited that they couldn’t wait to take pictures under it.
